A narrowband SHO rendering of the iconic Eagle Nebula (M16), captured using the Vaonis Vespera 2 telescope over multiple nights in Utah.

This image was produced using two dual-band filters:

  • Vaonis Dual Band Filter (Ha + OIII)
  • Askar Colour Magic C2 Duo Filter (SII + OIII)

The individual H-alpha, OIII, and SII contributions were extracted using DBXtract, and mapped to the SHO palette. Stars were integrated separately using RGB data captured with no filter.

Post-processing was done entirely in PixInsight, including:

  • DBXtract for SHO channel separation
  • RCAstro tools (BlurXTerminator, NoiseXTerminator, StarXTerminator)
  • StarSpikes (SetiAstro) for subtle diffraction spike enhancements
  • Final touchups and SHO color blending

This image represents a full SHO composition created from dual-band data with a color camera, showing the versatility of smart telescopes and modern extraction techniques.
